Function

As one can tell from the name, main functions of the Committee consist of demonopolizing the national economy and supporting competition as well as entrepreneurship in order to provide high quality products and services at competitive prices. While supporting fair competition, the Committee also keeps control over consumer rights protection and advertising activities.

The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization, support of competition and entrepreneurship is considered a state agency that carries out state policy on developing competitive environment, limiting monopolistic activities and regulating natural monopolies, reorganizing economically insufficient ventures, supporting the development of entrepreneurship, protecting consumer rights and controlling advertising activities.  

The following are the main functions of  the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization, support of competition and entrepreneurship:

provide necessary conditions for accelerated development of the private sector and to protect the legal rights and interests of entrepreneurs;

deeply analyze the financial-economic conditions and competitiveness of ventures, to work out and carry out practical measures of  decentralizing monopoly sectors and establishing independent private production units that can effectively compete in the local and international markets;

come up and carry out programs that anticipate changing the structure of natural monopolies and divide them to ventures that can operate in a competitive environment;

keep control over natural monopolies in order to avoid their monopolistic behavior and attempt to raise prices of their products and services artificially, without any base;

improve field of law for competitive environment that limits uncompetitive actions of large monopolies, unfair competition, monopolization of goods and service markets by unfair competitors, state bodies as well as local governments;

represent interests of the state in making decisions about economically insufficient ventures, exercise the functions of state regulation in the field of restructure and bankruptcy of ventures;

organize the system of state protection of consumer rights protection in close coordination with social structures of consumer rights protection;

regulate the advertisement market in order to avoid unfair competition in the advertisement industry.

The State Antimonopoly Committee performs it tasks and functions directly and through its territorial units as well as through Antimonopoly Policy Improvement Center.
